IBM and Lenovo Desktop Computers
IBM missed out on being the biggest name in personal computers, despite the early introduction of their "PC" in the early 1980's. For whatever reason, they never seemed to grasp the importance of personal computing and fell well behind the companies we're all buying from today. In 2004 IBM finally decided to throw in the towel on the PC biz and sold their personal computer operations to Lenovo, a Chinese company with a history of being a major PC supplier in Asia. With the acquistion of the IBM PC products, Lenovo became the third largest manufacturer of PC's worldwide.
